Academy of Mary Immaculate - RELATIONSHIPS

Today we hung out with the year 9 girls from the Academy of Mary Immaculate. We looked at relationships, starting off by seeing that God is relational (The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit all together relating to one another), and that throughout history God has wanted to be in relationship with people (we had a look at a few different women from the Bible and their relationship with God).

Then we looked at our relationships with the people around us and touched on some ways in which we can improve those relationships:
1. Dealing With Conflict.
Liz shared some stories of conflict in her life and offered some tools to handle conflict with:
+ Take Your Time
+ The Golden Phrase: "When you did this ... I felt this"
+ Own Your Part
+ Let Them Go

2. Boundaries
James and Evan led us through a dizzying game where some girls had to run from point a to b after being spun around. The catch was that the boundary wasn't straight - it was hilarious.
We had an interesting panel discussion about how to have boundaries in all areas of life - physical, emotional, time etc. We saw that Boundaries are really helpful for having healthy relationships with other people.

3. Encouragement
Steph spoke of how important it is to be encouraging in the way that we speak to each other, that it goes a long way and it really impacts how people feel about themselves and about you.
We did some journalling, looking for positive words and images to say about the people in our group.

Were you there? What did you get out of the day? Do you have any questions? Feel free to comment below and let us know what you thought of the day.
