Jesus’ Worship
God looked all over the earth for one human being who would offer him perfect worship because he or she was a perfect worshipper. He couldn’t find one until… Jesus. He who lived a perfect life and died a perfect death, the only one who ever has.
Join the dots
Hebrews 10:12 describes Jesus’ work on the cross as offering ‘For all time one sacrifice for sins’. For Israel sacrifice was worship, so what our modern…

Worship music has become a multi-million dollar business, some worship bands sell hundreds of thousands of copies and become the latest Christian Celebrities!
But what is worship all about, and why is it so important? Let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say, and trace the worship thread that runs through scripture as we explore together what worship could look like in our lives, in our schools and in our Lunchtime Groups.
What does ‘worship’ mean to you,…

Now back to that scroll of Isaiah... did you know that Isaiah is drawing on an even earlier passage in the Old Testament, a passage in the book of Leviticus, chapter 25? Now don’t freak out but Leviticus is one of these strange books of the Bible full of laws and it can be a challenging read, but in chapter 25 it opens up into an amazing story about the Year of Jubilee.
Let me explain…
God…

What do you think of when you here the word Mission? For me the word invokes images of deepest darkest Africa, tropical islands and Americans with beards and bum bags!
Anyone else? No, just me, ok moving on…
Most of us would have heard it said that Mission is about sharing the good news and making disciples of all nations, now I’m sure this is true, but what is the heart behind Mission and…

DISCIPLESHIP
Have you ever thought that Jesus was probably a bit of a nerve-wracking guy to be around? He stirred things up, he had awkward conversations (that we would rather avoid), he treated people differently, and behaved unexpectedly!
I don't know about you but the fact that Jesus was able to be so spontaneously awesome makes me wonder; How can we be more like this? How can we be…

I fancy a bit of jogging every now and then. I go with my dog Phryne Fisher (please don’t laugh at her name, she is rather sensitive). Phryne is a little bit slower then I am which often boosts my confidence. Sometimes when Phryne Fisher is annoying I leave her behind and go out on my own.
I power my way ahead thinking I am free to go as fast as I want because her tiny little legs aren’t trailing me. The first three hundred metres I display the finest of athleticism, I stride through…

Flies are Annoying like Kanye West

Picture adapted by Adam Jane Words by Katherine Lazarus
Flies are fairly annoying creatures. They have a very loud presence, buzzing around your face, crying out for attention. Then when they spy your food they launch at it like a grandma to a yarn of wool.
Over the centuries people have created ways and sprays to eliminate their germy presence.
I often…

I have always found treasure hunts to be highly frustrating. Sure, my stomach is excitedly bursting with jitters at the prospect of going on an adventure and my feet are jumping at the thought of the treasure one might find. But then my heart is cloistered into a little ball annoyed that only one person can win.
So I find myself asking the question: is the journey worth the destination? Could I end up the hopeless loser that goes home with nothing but the sand in my shoes?
Sally…

There’s been a find in South Africa that has some geologists celebrating evidence of a monkey becoming a man, or, to put it simply proof for the evolution theory.
Some scientists are sceptical of the find and others are hopeful.
In some ways it’s like finding God; many would say an invisible God is like believing in Tinkerbelle. Others have no doubt that God is scattered all over this earth and beyond.
It is an interesting story that brings up a lot of questions about…

I recently saw the Disney classic, Mary Poppins on stage in all her sugar coated glory. As I looked back on this children’s classic I started deconstructing each scene trying to find hidden meanings behind the sarcastic quarks of Mary Poppins.
I dug and dug, I found the sad little bird lady that everyone ignored, the chimney sweeps who were happy whether or not they had a penny in their pocket and the statues in the garden that came to life and danced and sang just like ummm.... So…

“Ob-la-di, ob-la-da life goes on”, sing the Beatles about Molly and meeting her man. But life really isn’t as simple as meeting the love of your life in a market place and marrying him soon after. If it were me it would be more like spotting the love of my life but getting so distracted that I trip over a barrel of apples and dive into the fish stall, while he slowly walks past laughing at my sleek, sleek moves.
I have a collection of regrets that sit shrouded on my shelf. They…

Some of the most beautiful plants are hybrid. Hybrid means to mix different aspects of things, for example a pear and an apple equals a nashi which equates to a most likeable fruit.
Today as I ran my eyes over the news headlines I came upon an article that highlighted our fear of the unfamiliar.
Disneyland Resort, a place where people stay to connect with their inner child, has banned one of their employees from appearing in front of customers while wearing her…

Today we hung out with the year 9 girls from the Academy of Mary Immaculate. We looked at relationships, starting off by seeing that God is relational (The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit all together relating to one another), and that throughout history God has wanted to be in relationship with people (we had a look at a few different women from the Bible and their relationship with God).
Then we looked at our relationships with the people around us and touched on some ways in…

Below is what we went through as a group of students in Lunchtime Groups. If you're in a LG, please have a read and think about for your personal walk with God and also how any of this might relate to your Lunchtime Group.
We read Luke 10:38-42
At the Home of Martha and Mary
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening… Continue

Jennifer Hawkins buys a block of land.
Tony Abbott faces unrest in own party over paid parental leave scheme.
What is the more popular story?
An employee of a popular news website was quoted as saying, “I can tell you that would be the Jennifer Hawkins one.”
It appears we are more interested in a model’s block of land then the issues facing our possible future Prime Minister.
My alarm bell is ringing but oh look Lilly Allen is pregnant and…
